The Men Who Stare At Goats

23rd February: The Men Who Stare At Goats.

A journalist goes east to the war when his wife leaves him and tracks down a former Jedi Knight. Together they track down a disband government special ops team of actual Jedi and hilarity ensues.

Jeff Bridges in a movie = I'm sold.

*Spoilers*

When watching this movie there was something that always popped into my head; why is Danny Ocean teaching Obi-Wan Kenobi about Jedi? It always got a smirk out of me anyway. This film is filled with very funny bits but they are all tied together on a story that eventually goes nowhere. Ewan McGregor and George Clooney are really funny, Clooney's belief in everything he says and McGregor's almost disbelief. After battling through Iraq, they end up stumbling along an army base in the desert where the disband Jedi forces are still operational under Clooney's nemesis; Kevin Spacey, who also delivers a very funny performance. Then the story kinda ends. They take over the base and free all the Goats that are being used as guinea pigs for the Jedi to train on and then it ends. Kinda a let down, I wanted more. But obviously my favourite was the plot was told through flash backs when Jeff Bridges was the commander (or Yoda) of the special ops squad of Jedi. Every scene with him in is hilarious. There is always something funny going on, but I didn't like Jeff Bridges lack of beard in this movie.

Also before I checked the back of the DVD cover, I thought this was a Coen brothers movie, but it isn't: FAIL.

Overall: 8/10
